I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Mayor Cleveland over the past couple of years. Fred has been a good leader. He has excellent skills, very unifying, easy to talk to, and a great problem solver with follow through. I think he is passionate about our community, and I look forward to working with him two more years.

Fred’s been a great leader for New Smyrna Beach. He’s the right person at the right time.

He’s focused on a lot of important initiatives, and he’s focused on one in particular that I’ve been involved in that is very important to not only me but I think the entire population of our city, which is cleaning up our waterways. Waterways are very important to our city. They’ve been important to Fred and the commission, and they’re doing a lot of things to help clean up that issue.

Fred and the City Commission have generously funded for the Police Department to get a boat which will be coming soon to start policing the waterways. I think it’s going to give us a much better opportunity to get rid of a lot of the derelict boats that are out there and get rid of the people who abuse the system and anchor their boats and stay there for weeks on end when they’re really only allowed to stay there ten days. That’s important.

As a friend and neighbor of Fred for ten years, I have always admired his tenure in the military, his unparalleled willingness to help others, and his savvy approach to improving complex businesses and teams. Fred’s career has expanded from Naval Academy to former Airline CEO, strategy consultant, and avid youth camp volunteer.

Fred strives to excel in everything he does while humbly serving others.

When I voted for Fred the first time, it really was about he’s a smart guy and really good manager. He worked both in the public sector and private sector and did an outstanding job in both cases so I thought he’s perfect!

Fred has been an amazing support for Smyrna Cares. Smyrna Cares is about helping people that are in challenging areas. They’re doing fine and then all of a sudden they’re not. Fred has been there at every single fundraiser. Fred is always there to offer a hand.

Fred still is necessary for his wonderful management skills because we have an amazing challenge: We’re losing not only our City Manager but also the CEO of the Utilities Commission; both vital entities to make sure our city is doing well. Fred would be a good person to be there nice and solid.

But I’m really voting for Fred because it is so rare to have that combination of smarts, business acumen, good team player but also the kindness he has shown to the people that have challenges in our community. And that’s why I’m voting for Fred Cleveland.
